Since I started living out by myself and moving out of my family house, my weekend activities would consists of driving half an hour to the outskirts of town to visit Aunt Maggie at her country home. Aunt Maggie is not really my relative, but a long time family friend of mine. I only started getting close to her and her family the last few years. Ever since then I would go over to visit her every weekend when I am free. We would sit together and discuss and argue on just about anything from our religion, philosophies, her love for gardening and many other things. If she is busy with her lovely garden when I am there, then I would just sit there and watch her keep herself busy with her garden flowers and the other plants. When she feels tired, she would sit down beside me at her patio, where she keeps her special set of teak wood furniture.

The outdoor collection consists of one rectangular shaped table and six chairs. There is one small magazine rack at the side and another small table on which Aunt Maggie decorated with a golden-colored brass water bowl with colorful floating candles and flowers. The collection has intricate flowery designs and seemed flawless. Aunt Maggie and her family normally have breakfast at this area. During teatime, we often sit there to savor the delicious pastry that her daughter made and sip green teas.

I mentioned to her how her chosen collection of teak furniture seems to have plain simple designs, and yet they do not lack that artistic touch. She just smiled after hearing my appreciation.

"You can actually find many types of teak wood furniture around town, most of them for sale at rational prices. But still, the best time to go look for them is right before any festive seasons come since all the shops in town will be having major sales", She advised me. She added that she actually bought the patio furniture on the internet, since its cheaper than actually going to a store and buying a similar one.

Thanks, I love to own some, but mum says she doesnt like the sharp, pungent smell of teak wood, I explained. What a pity. My mind recalled seeing some beautiful collections at the furniture shops in town. There were sets of elegant outdoor set, beach chair and side tables, shoe racks, leisure tables and beautifully crafted ornaments made of teak wood.

Aunt Maggie likes all types of design on her teak furniture, whether they are classic, modern or contemporary. I like them because they are beautiful, functional and extremely durable, aunt Maggie said. I nodded in agreement. Her garden benches were also bought from the same internet store. The designs were simple yet beautiful.

They are easy to clean and maintain too, Aunt Maggie added.

The chairs really compliment the pool well since a complete swimming pool would need accompanying chairs, tables and umbrellas.

Inside her proud and lovely garden there are also some teak furnishings. She has several teak benches placed strategically around her garden, providing extra comfort and welcoming feelings for the guests. Every one of Aunt Maggie's carefully chosen pieces of teak outdoor furniture are special and different in their own way.

Since we always talked about Feng Shui and Aunt Maggie seems to know a lot about it, I asked her if she practiced the knowledge when deciding how to place her furnishings. She admits that she does use her knowledge of Feng Shui when placing her furniture for both outdoor and indoor. She said that she did all that so she can create a sense of balance and calmness inside her house. She believes when done properly then it could bring some good luck to the people living in the house. But then she tries not to overdo it even though she encourages people to learn about it, since too much could cause imbalance and bring negative effects instead.

Customers would normally choose teak wood furniture over other furniture because of their beauty and because they tend to last longer than others if properly kept and conditioned. She had attended Feng Shui classes and is doing a good job applying her knowledge to good use from what I can see.

Teak furniture are popular among people because of their exquisite beauty and because they last much longer. People just choose it because they prefer it over other type of wood but in the end, comfort is still the number one reason for choosing it.
